Dhoni’s splendid inning on the field and his simple honesty off the field have won millions of hearts and continue to do so. Players win over their fans with their stunning moves on the playing field but here we have a cricketer who left the world in awe even with the announcement of his retirement. MS Dhoni announced his retirement from the field of international matches on the day when the nation was celebrating its Independence Day. Fans were not expecting any such news, that was clear from the way masses reacted to this sudden shock but even the cricket fraternity was not ready for such a shocker from former Indian captain. Tweets, interviews, reactions and wishes started pouring in as soon as Dhoni’s post, “Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired,” flashed on his Instagram profile.

TATA COULDN’T HOLD HIMSELF BACK

Business tycoon Ratan Tata who is known for his ultimate composure and neutrality couldn’t hold himself back from reacting to the news of Dhoni’s retirement. The world of cricket is such that a player is urged to retire even if he fails his fans in one match. The same thing happened with DhonI. When the former skipper couldn’t save the team from losing in against New Zealand, in July 2019, even after him scoring a 50, cricket world grew abuzz with the whispers of his impending retirement. Some said it openly, some in hushed tones. But as we know Captain Cool, Dhoni went on doing what he does as good as playing cricket, ignoring the whispers. And now when he himself took the decision for his career, the world seems to want more of him. Ratan Tata’s message to MS Dhoni echoes the same feelings and also tells what a gem of a player he is. Reminiscing Dhoni’s career Tata wrote, “Your contributions for the country will never be forgotten MS Dhoni”. This short note to our former captain is enough o let us know what special place he holds in the hearts of Indians. Not only masses but tycoons like Tata couldn’t help but send out their love for him.

FANDOM INSIDE CRICKET FRATERNITY

Legend.” All the words express deep respect for the player under whose captaincy Dhawan learned so much and made a solid place for himself in the team. He also acknowledges that it’s inevitable but the tinge of sadness cannot be avoided.

Cherry on the cake was the message form India’s most aggressive batsman, Virendra Sehwag. Sehwag did not try to customize his heartfelt message to fit into the world of social media and wrote from his heart. Sehwag says, “To have player like him, Mission Impossible. Na koi hai, Na koi tha, na koi hoga MS Kee jaisa. Players will come and go but here won’t be a calmer man like him. Dhoni with his connect with people having aspirations was like a family member to many cricket lovers. Om Finishaya Namah” Sehwag truly gave voice to what millions are feeling right now, there won’t be a cricketer like Dhoni and there never has been one.
