Chennai Super Kings has been one of the most promising team of the IPL since the beginning but the 23th IPL has not been good for the CSK, at least so far. Two consecutive defeats have left the team looking for new and better strategies, techniques and new options in batting and bowling line up. The skipper, MS Dhoni is thinking of shuffling the combinations and is trying to find the reasons of the previous defeats. Delhi Capitals achieved a win over CSK by 44 runs which seems to be unacceptable to the captain. The skipper came up with technical reasons for the defeat which included “no dew” and “mounting pressure” but at the end he had to admit that the team needs more enthusiasm. Dhoni stated, “We are lacking a bit of steam in batting and that hurts.” It is saddening to hear it from the most promising captain but the truth needs to be accepted and dealt with. This is what Dhoni must be panning on doing.
DHONI NEEDS A CLEARER PICTURE
Dhini said that the slow start of the inning doesn’t to any good to the team. It only increases the pressure as the run rate keeps on increasing. Mounting run rate results into mounting pressure and now it is high time that the CSK resolves this issue. Dhoni admitted that the team requires new combinations. He is also looking forward to Ambati Rayudu’s return to the team as the batsman played amazingly well during the first match that CSK had won against the defending champions, Mumbai Indians. Rayudu had stuck 48-ball 71 in the first match and Dhoni is expecting something similar out of the player in the next match as he is anticipating his return.
Dhoni urged his team to step up and take the game a notch up. There is a desperate need of CSK coming back into the form. Dhoni expressed his desire and expectations from the team quite clearly. He stated, “We need to get better with our lengths, lines and pace”. Dhoni especially called out the spinners and said that they have been giving out boundary deliveries too often. Dhoni said, “I think spinners have not come to the party yet.”
On the other side Shreyas Iyer, DC captain seemed to be very happy with his team and a few fielding lapses were ignored by the captain as “benefit of doubt”. The player seemed to siding with the fielders and said it wasn’t an easy task to judge and catch the ball in such conditions. Iyer could afford this opinion as Shimron Hetmyer’s two missed chances could not hurt the team much. The skipper said that everything went as per the plan and the good start by openers gave all the strength to the team that was needed. He also stresses upon the importance of celebrating each other’s success.
