The star performer from team Rajasthan Royals today was Rahul Tewatia. He hit five sixes in one over to take team Rajasthan Royals for an incredible victory over Kings XI Punjab.
It is Rajasthan Royals record highest run chase in the history of Indian Premier League where the team defeated Kings XI Punjab by four wickets. It seemed that the match was already won by Kings XI but it was Tewatia’s dramatic play which lead the team into taking 30 runs from Sheldon Cottrell during the 18th over. Initially, it seemed to be a stiff chase but Rahul cast his charm over the field and took team Rajasthan Royals to great heights.
It was ideally an unbelievable turn of events to see Rahul Tewatia go ahead with 53 off 31 balls with 7 sixes as, during the beginning, he was seen finding it difficult to connect the ball after being pushed up the order ahead of the likes of Robin Uthappa.
But he was seen quickly changing gears as he hoisted Cottrell for a series of sixes and got the entire team excited as they could see a ray of hope in him. He was out during the last ball of the 19th over and post him we saw Jofra Archer and Tom Curran with 13 not out and 4 not out respectively taking the Rajasthan Royals towards the victory ladder.
Team Rajasthan Royals is again in the headlines due to their highest successful run-chase in the Indian Premier League history building upon their previous record of 217 runs while chasing 215 against Deccan Chargers in the year 2008.
Sanju Samson was seen continuing his dream run with a great 42 balls 85 runs. On the other hand, captain Steve Smith made a contribution of 50 runs in 27 balls. Jos Buttler, the star batsman from England was seen culminating his journey with only 7 runs as Cotrell dismissed him in the third over.
Samson was seen at an altogether different level as he was focussed on plundering the fours and sixes. He was seen gathering 21 runs off Glen Maxwell during the 16th over before we saw Mohanned Shami dismissing him in the first ball of the next over.
The audience also saw opener, Mayank Agarwal outshining his captain Rahul with his maiden hundred in IPL as the duo pummelled the Royals bowlers to almost submit in order to post the highest total of the season so far. Theirs was the highest partnership for any wicket so far in this season where they collectively scored 183 run stand. They missed the record of the highest opening wicket partnership merely by 2 runs as Mayank got out in the 17th over post hitting 10 fours and 7 sixes during the 50 balls knock.
