Kolkata knight riders defeated Sunrisers hyderabad by seven wickets and registered first victory in IPL 2020. In the initial 17.6 overs Eoin Morgan showed off his style for the final victory of Kolkata Knight Riders. In the final 12 balls to spare, Morgan was seen smacking T. Natrajan put a boundary straight down the ground and gave the team a seven wicket win. Team Kolkata Knight Riders has moved up to the fifth spot and also got the first points on the points table.
Another star for the shore was Shubman Gill who led the team with a scintillating 70 off 62 balls. It was an emphatic victory for team Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi. During the 16th over Shubman Gill was seen in full swing welcoming Abhishek Verma into the attack when he hit a huge six straight down the ground.
When it came for the team Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat, they never got going after Pat Cummins (1/19) & the rookie spinner Varun Chakravarthy (1/25) threw away the opening pair of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner respectively. They were limited to a below par 142/4 post the dramatic start by team Kolkata Knight Riders.
Along with team KKRs great start, team Sunrisers Hyderabad which is also well known for its bowling prowess and they did try making some inroads by involving T Natarajan and Khaleel Ahmed dismissing both Nitish Rana (26 off 13) & Sunil Narine (0). Rashid Khan was seen in full swing and he came into action straightway trapping Dinesh Karthik the well known Kolkata Knight Riders skipper for a duck.
During his 5th Indian Premier League fifty, Gill was seen quite calm and composed and he took complete control of the innings. Initially,
Team Kolkata looked quite aggressive and intent in their approach as they got in Cummins and Narine up front with the brand new ball.
This Indian Premier League’s most expensive overseas buy, Cummins was creative enough to quickly alter his length and bowled Jonny Bairstow to provide team Kolkata Knight Riders with their first breakthrough.
Chakravarthy, the architect turned spinner in his second coming, dismissed a well set Warner (36 off 30) in a soft manner in his maiden IPL wicket in turn providing team KKR with a big breakthrough.
The Australian left handed who was not seen performing well against team Royal Challengers Bangalore as he got out, looked to make some difference here with his clean hits. But the loss of concentration took him in and he spooned a simple catch to Chakravarthy. In hindsight, replacing and sending Saha initially in place of Mohammad Nabi, seemed to be a tactical blunder because the Indian wicketkeeper wasted a lot of deliveries in order to make 30 off 31.
