After running over the internet for his retirement from International Cricket , the star batsman of Chennai Super Kings Suresh Raina will be missing the entire Indian Premier League series 2020. Reportedly, Raina was in Dubai with the entire Chennai Super Kings squad for the 13th edition of the tournament but he had to return back to India due to personal reasons.
The most awaited game this year is all set to take place from Sep 19, 2020, at three different venues in the United Arab Emirates. The Chennai Super Kings CEO K.S.VISWANATHAN twitted from the official Chennai Super Kings handle informing the general public about the unavailability of the star batsman of the team Suresh Raina. He further added that Raina would not be available for the remaining Indian Premier League Season but team Chennai Super Kings offers complete support to Raina as well as his family during this difficult time.
At the current movement, it is unclear why Suresh Raina has returned home. His fans will not be able to see him play during the entire tournament. It is quite disheartening for the Raina fan following as the 33-year-old announced his retirement from International Cricket earlier this month. This news came in after multiple members of the Chennai Super Kings team were tested positive for the Corona Virus in Dubai and the entire team was quarantined.
The team’s quarantine period in Dubai has already been extended until September 01, 2020. Amongst the other players who have been under the COVID 19 spotlight, is a right-handed top-order batsman who has displayed a prolific performance in Ranji Trophy.
As of now, there is no threat for the tournament but one complete franchise becoming a “COVID19 hotspot’ is an alarming issue for the all other teams along with BCCI.
A senior Indian Premier League official informed that there are almost 13 cases only from one franchise. This is surely going to be a big deal for everyone. The question here now is about the foreign cricketers as they are more panicky and touchy about this issue. There is a need to keep a tab on players physical as well as mental health to balance the game out.
The general public is eagerly waiting for the game to begin. There is a special focus on the game post the retirement announcement of the former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. But the current situation is critical and taxing both for the players and the organisers. The wait till September 19 will bring more clarity as to how team UAE handles the entire situation.
