Shikhar Dhawan is one of the most fierce and successful batsmen of the Indian cricket team. But lately, he has been out of the Test Squad and even had to struggle to make a place in the One Day army of cricketers. But the cricketer who has made us proud on the cricket field many times struggles to keep his performance consistent which becomes the reason for his unstable place in the team. The cricketer, though, keeps a positive attitude towards the whole situation and the same positivity was displayed by Dhawan when he gave voice to his hope of making a comeback in the Test Cricket. On September, 6, the player made it very clear that he still holds on to the hope of returning to his usual place in the Test team.
HOPE FOR THE BEST
“I am not a part of the test team but that does not mean I have given up all hopes of a comeback”, this is what the cricketer told the channels during the most recent interaction. Dhawan banked upon his performance in Ranji matches. He recalled his praiseworthy performance on the field and his consistency which had gotten him a place in the One Day cricket. The cricketer thinks if that comeback is possible, then returning to Test matches should not be that tough a deal. “If I get an opportunity, then why not, of course.” The player finished his sentence on a hopeful note which is a testimony to his ever-optimistic personality.
Dhawan stressed upon his consistency during the whole interaction which tells us that the player is well-aware of his problem aspect and is very much willing to work upon that. Dhawan has got all the aspects figured out. He has calculated the time that he has to prepare himself, to showcase his abilities and skills for the next T20 World Cup. He hopes if everything goes as per his plan, he will definitely achieve what he is after.
“I will try my best. The T20 World Cup is there next year, so I need to keep performing, keep myself fit, make runs consistently. If I keep doing these, other things will automatically fall into place.” Now, this is what we call true sportsmanship.
FINDING HOPE AND HAPPINESS IN BIO-SECURE BUBBLE
When the cricketer was asked about the present-day scenario of playing under all the rules and regulations and maintaining Bio-Secure Bubble, Dhawan accepted the challenges that the teams are going through but it did not make him overlook all the efforts that the franchises are making to keep the players safe and happy.
When asked about Delhi Capitals chances of grabbing the trophy this year, Dhawan radiated with positivity. Dhawan said, “We have a very well balanced side and confidence we will take the cup.” The player praised his team captain Shreyas Iyer and also the experienced cricketers like Ajinkya and Ashwin for strengthening the team. He did not forget to thank and appreciate the BCCI for their relentless efforts in making this tournament possible.
